ABSTRACT

Psychosocial therapy is an approach to the clinical practice of social work that in many ways can be called the traditional approach. Even though its roots go back to the early days of the profession, it has always striven to be as current as possible and has always drawn upon a broad base of knowledge sources. However, because of its long history and its connection with the early development of the profession, it is sometimes mistakenly viewed as no longer relevant, when in fact it is a system that has changed greatly and that continues to be at the cutting edge of contemporary practice.
