ABSTRACT

During a time in which the world was being turned upside down, the author found high school to be oppressive in most respects. In his own work, the author has applied the psychological-jurisprudential perspective to the creation of safe environments for children in effect, the theme that began his work in psychology. In the past several years, the author has had a series of remarkable experiences that have convinced him of both the growing possibility for such a safe society but also the growing threat to children around the world. The author broadened his substantive knowledge about social policy, especially in regard to children and families, by enrolling in advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in education, government, foreign relations, and religion, and by working as a counselor in a group home for delinquent boys. Wanting to make the world a more peaceful place, the author had long planned to be a foreign service officer with a specialty in Eastern Europe.
