ABSTRACT

Librarians are often hampered by the limitations of online catalog systems because of a lack of flexibility in how they present relationships among serial information objects and their bibliographic surrogates. Therefore librarians have to look outside the box and consider other methods for enhancing bibliographic clarity and access. They also have to be forward thinking and develop an information environment that is less encumbered by machine-imposed strictures such as linearity, polarization of viewpoint and visual constraint.
