ABSTRACT

This Town Hall meeting provided an opportunity for the audience to ask general questions about the state of NASIG and the serials profession, and to discuss questions of interest and concern to the membership in a civil, collegial atmosphere. Christa Easton began by asking the audience to help set ground rules for the discussion. Speakers were to use the microphones, identify themselves, and participate in a collegial interchange of ideas via respectful discourse. NASIG has picked up the expenses for a speaker to regional library associations. Some conference presentations can be recycled to local groups so those who can not travel can benefit from them. The Continuing Education Committee is trying to support places that need help, but they need a local group with which to work. Continuing education is needed for the commercial sector. This is an opportunity for vendors to host internship and independent studies opportunities for library students so they could see the non-library opportunities available.
