Airline Consumers

The typical traveler utilizes airlines for business or leisure travel. Therefore, the effects of September II caused these two types of consumers to reevaluate their want to travel and the need for air travel to get them there. In general, consumers reacted favorably to the overall increased security measures, but were unprepared for the delays caused by long lines at security checkpoints and hassle of random baggage checks at the gate. In addition, the Boeing survey taken in November 2001 found that nine out of ten Americans who traveled commercially after September 11 felt safe or very safe due to the increased security at airports, whereas 3 percent said air travel is now too big of a hassle to endure.
