ABSTRACT

Documented effects of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) 1 technique span the fields of psychology, physiology, and sociology. Part One of this article provides the reader with the background for understanding how a simple technique practiced on the level of the mind can have fundamental effects in each of these fields. It also highlights the singular contributions of Charles N. Alexander to developmental psychology, and their significance for rehabilitation of offenders. Part Two introduces each 2of the articles in this collection, describing practical applications of the TM program and other aspects of the Consciousness-Based 1 approach to rehabilitation and prevention.
