ABSTRACT

The publication of manuals and workbooks to help clinicians address mental health problems has burgeoned tremendously in recent years. Many of these treatment packages have been geared toward adults, but more are being targeted toward child-based problems (e.g., anxiety). In addition, most manuals and workbooks have been designed for formal psychological disorders (e.g., depression), but others have been designed for amorphous or less well-defined areas. This chapter discusses one such area, school-refusal behavior, and examines a therapist guide and parent workbook that have been created to address this problem.
