ABSTRACT

Even more basic than whether we like ourselves is that we are able to recognize our selves at all. When emotionally healthy, we often take for granted continuity in our basic sense of self and other. Yet beneath day-to-day stability there exists great flux. From the quantum mechanics collapsing each waveform, to the molecules that continually replace themselves in our bodies, to the neurochemistry of rapidly shifting brain states, at the material level of existence everything changes. So what constitutes identity?
