ABSTRACT

The expensive education that I was offered at the Convent of the Sacred Heart was presented to me by the highly educated (and rather snobbish) Dames of the Sacred Heart as a means to maintain one's place in society; in other words, an investment to acquire or preserve one's wealth and social position. To be told that the purpose of education is to obtain wealth is to be told that the main assets in life are ®nancial. What an error.
