The Sexual Behavior of Alcoholic Women While Drinking and During Sobriety

Both alcohol and sex are concerned with the satisfaction of fundamental urges and have been subjected to infinitely varied codes of beha v ior, re gu lat ions, suppress ions and repressions in di fferent communities and phases of civilization (Carver, 1948). Much of the scientific literature on alcoholism tends either to ignore women entirely or to assume that the effects of alcohol on women are the same as they are on men. Similar instances have been evidenced in the literature on human sexuality.
