ABSTRACT

I had misread the sign as a reproof to myself for any temptation to use this occasion to gratify my own infantile grandiosity rather than to perform the task of describing the struggle.

In thinking the matter through, I realized I was not so concerned about my own grandiosity; rather, the misperception referred to an ancient conflict with my exhibitionistic father who resented anyone attempting to occupy some of his space. I was admonishing myself for attempting such an effort.
