ABSTRACT

What do I think, Naomi? I think that one doesn’t become a feminist suddenly after a flash of insight. Instead, feminist consciousness is the result of the merging of personal values with those of family, friends, and community. The books you and I read, our teachers, the groups we belonged to, and perhaps for me more than you, Jewish identity —all have played a critical role in both our decision to become therapists and our embrace of feminism.
