chapter  5
Rapid Assessment and Case Conceptualization
Pages 12

The tasks involved in selecting a treatment issue-assessment, problem conceptualization, focus identification, and goal negoti ation-are highly interrelated. It is virtually impossible to do any one of these in isolation: much of assessment addresses the emerging focus; problem conceptualization affects what is selected as a focus; and assessment information is relied on to create a problem concep tualization. This should be kept in mind as each part is treated (somewhat artificially, for ease of discussion) individually in this and subsequent chapters.
