ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book provides an overview of football agents industry and how their role of intermediation has become so critical within labour market. The regulatory interventions from both football governing bodies and national and international public authorities have contributed to creating a role for agents that has responded to previous market failure and also, at times, by limiting agents' activities, these interventions have pushed them to become more entrepreneurial in their operations. The book argues that reforming the agents industry have failed, leaving the perception of agents, if perhaps not true of the majority, as participants in an industry that is rolling in cash and ripping off clubs, stealing money from the game. In order to improve transparency and integrity in transfers, Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has introduced two new systems: the Test Match Series (TMS) and Global Player Exchange (GPX).
