ABSTRACT

Corporate training films are commissioned by large and multinational companies or organisations to assist in the training of their staff. This is a fairly similar concept to roleplaying, only in recorded format which can be watched by many more employees, time and time again. Actors performing in these films will be playing scenarios that commonly occur in the workplace to bring these to the viewers' attention and to equip them with the necessary skills to deal effectively with tricky or problematic situations, and to follow procedures or impart specialised information. These films therefore give the employees concerned the competitive edge in the workplace as well as a sense of personal development. This form of work, while not as highly paid as many television commercials, can provide a steady stream of employment for the right type of actors.
