ABSTRACT
We have all heard talk of this phenomenon, mostly associated with stories of stardom and rags to riches back in the 1950s and 1960s. It is the constant joke aimed at casting directors (usually delivered with a playful wink or nudge by those intrigued souls who are not in the Industry) and it is indeed what the sofa in my office is jokingly nicknamed. Not as rife as it supposedly was all those decades ago, the practice of offering a job in return for sexual favours does still occasionally occur and while it is not worth worrying about, keep the possibility at the back of your mind. Now, far be it for me to moralise or tell any of you how to behave, but it is an abuse of (supposed) power, especially if it gets thoughts of ‘what if…?’ going in your mind.
