ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. It focuses on Diversity and Inclusion to a vantage point that illuminates new processes for enhancing inclusion and building capacity in diverse organizations. It is noteworthy that none of the chapters in the book encouraged conformity or assimilation as effective means for managing diversity. The integration of Positive Organizational Scholarship (POS) and Diversity and Inclusion identifies the relational benefits of understanding differences. Menon and Chakravarti's chapter on social resilience as discussed in the book addresses how people move beyond first impressions and persist in discomfort to build stronger relationships. Consistent with decades of diversity research, the chapters in this book acknowledge the challenges that surface from discriminatory attitudes and actions in diverse organizations. Most chapters in the book remind us that the bridges we build between Diversity, Inclusion, and POS begin with ourselves.
