When entrepreneurs think finance, they are often thinking about cash. Making sure that there is enough cash for payroll and bills is on top of every business owner’s stress list. This chapter provides tools that enable entrepreneurs to be in control of their cash flows. We discussed the statement of cash flow in Chapter 3. In this chapter, we will use the direct method as the framework for forecasting cash flow. Table 6.1 shows the basic cash flow calculations.
