ABSTRACT

An epilogue may attem pt to summarize; yet often it elaborates an aspect which need not appear particularly im portant to a given reader - and with which he need not agree. It must be taken as a personal flourish by the author - ra ther like the Greek villagers who, when leaving the cafe, do not find it adequate to say ‘Goodbye’ two or three times, ‘Good day’ and ‘Be seeing you’, but ju st before leaving suddenly repeat a sentence that was used by someone in the course of the conversation, and having said this, step out and are gone.
