Development of memory

The stages o f development Piaget’s developmental theory centres on the postulate that cognitive development proceeds through a series of stages (see Piaget, 1953). Although the age at which each stage begins and ends varies from child to child, the order is considered to be invariant. A brief description of these stages is necessary before considering the Piagetian view of memory. A full description is available in Flavell (1963).
