ABSTRACT

The Statement (Exhibit 1) that accompanied my thesis art exhibition was my first A/r/tographic Statement. It was originally offered to gallery viewers within a gallery setting, similar to an Artist Statement. It was written just prior to the exhibition and before I began the written component of the thesis (Bickel, 2004). Within this essay, I offer the A/r/tographic Statement with selected images of the art and performance rituals. I consider the Statement a time-specific historical archival document and because of this footnotes are added as hypertext to share my expanded thinking and writing beyond that moment in time.
