ABSTRACT

A similar amendment was made at the same time in Rule XIV, where it deals with the allowance as a substituted expense of the cost of temporary repairs effected to accidental damage, but Rule X(d) was left unaltered. Now, since 1994, we have to consider it afresh, in the context of the Rule Paramount. For these reasons it appears to the authors that the advent of the Rule Paramount will have little, if any, impact in practice upon the allowances which may be made under Rule F. Any additional expense incurred in place of another expense which would have been allowable as general average shall be deemed to be general average and so allowed without regard to the saving, if any, to other interests, but only up to the amount of the general average expense avoided.
