ABSTRACT

The chapter explores how to monitor the progress of youth in services and determine next steps. One specific form of interdisciplinary collaboration is meetings in which youth and families are discussed. The Outcome Rating Scale (ORS) and Child Outcome Rating Scale (CORS) are self-report measures that provide information about a youth's level of distress and are administered at the start of services and each session or meeting thereafter YCWs are responsible for the safety of youth and will need to use their observational and interviewing skills to identify concerns that may indicate risk. As youth convey that which has transpired between formal sessions or meetings YCWs attend to two forms of information. The first relates to what youth communicate verbally and nonverbally through language and interaction. The second level of information YCWs attend to is the ongoing distress of youth as captured through outcome measurement. YCWs work with youth to achieve an overall change on the ORS or CORS.
