ABSTRACT

Let me interject another central learning I have come to under­

stand related to empathy: The more I allow the child to teach

me, the less I find myself wanting to "fix things." Allowing

myself to be taught seems to take the

burden off me to get children where I

would like them to go. As I listen to and observe chil­

dren teaching me, I seem much more content to just be

myself and let children be themselves.
