ABSTRACT

On their vacation, Mr. and Mrs. Rawl were speeding along a freeway at the legal limit. Suddenly Jon and Roberta, in the back seat, began to quarrel, hitting at each other. Mr. Rawl's temper was short due to the heat and the tension of driving. "Stop it!" he shouted. The fighting abated for a moment, and then it erupted again. Mr. Rawl turned around, holding the wheel with his left hand, his right hand seeking someone to slap. As he hit one of the children, his left hand pulled the wheel and the car swerved. Mrs. Rawl screamed and grabbed the wheel. The car nearly went out of control; it was indeed fortunate that a serious accident did not occur. The entire family, shaken by the experience, quieted down for a while. The parents wondered if they should ever drive again with the kids.
