ABSTRACT

Unlike other of the psychodynamic theorists such as Freud, Jung, and the Neo-Freudians (Horney, Fromm, and Sullivan), Adler was concerned with the problems of crime and delinquency, as well as their prevention and treatment. We noted in Chapter VII that one of the three main problems in life has to do with choosing and pursuing a vocation. In our jobs we, in some way, contribute to the welfare of others. The vast majority of criminals are untrained and lack the skills necessary for some kind of useful work. This goes back to early life where the child showed a lack of interest in working.
