ABSTRACT
In this chapter we examine more closely the nature of the habituative process. In doing so, empirical evidence which relates to the assumptions of match-mismatch theory concerning habituative function is presented and analyzed. A particular focus is the question of whether differential habituative processes exist for species-specific responses and the OR and what the nature of these differences might be.
