ABSTRACT
Now that we have presented the general stimulus analyzing and response factors of the present theory, it is necessary to examine two fundamental motivational mechanisms which interact with the IPM in determining the form and direction of behavior. These motivational processes will, of course, have particular significance for the expression of species-specific behaviors. However, they also have a direct impact on the form of learned behaviors and stimulus analysis.
