ABSTRACT

Feminine gender identity and crossdressing may seem to be odd bedfellows for sexual aggression but the link among them may be closer than previously believed. Clinicians expect transvestitic and transsexual men to behave like women who are, in large part, noncriminal and nonviolent compared to males. However femininity may have a different meaning to them. The surprising association of crossdressing and feminine gender identity with rape (Chapter 2), autoerotic asphyxia and sadomasochism, suggests that the question be examined in greater detail than typically has been done. The next study examines erotic behavior and aggressiveness in men traditionally believed to be “passive”; transvestites and transsexuals.
