ABSTRACT

In Chapter 7 we primarily considered intense stimuli: intense internal stimuli related to physiological drives, intense external ones like shock, and ones that became intense because of the connections they developed. Responses that reduced these intense stimuli usually were strengthened, whereas responses that did not reduce them or actually produced the intense stimuli generally were weakened.
