ABSTRACT
Ten or so years ago the author decided to take a fresh look at how an analyst listens. Having tried half-dozen or more ways to look at how the author listened, and having found that in the looking the author was disrupting most what the author wanted most not to disrupt, the author settled at last upon a way of looking, after the fact. The author needed practice to allow my thoughts to range more freely: to allow or to induce those drifts after the hour that the author more commonly allow or induce during the hour and whenever else the call of organization is not too strong. Grasping likenesses at center stirs image-making at edge stirs grasp at center. Apollonian joins Dionysian joins Apollonian. When finally he managed such drifts, the author found the impressions the author was seeking.
