A First Step Towards a Virtual Prehension System
Pages 4

In our efforts to understand the control and coordination of prehension it was decided to develop a virtual prehension system, enabling easy manipulation of all kinds of variables during task performance (e.g., perturbations). A ftrst question concerns the validity of the task as compared to natural prehension. The pilot study reported here was designed to study characteristics of the virtual prehension movements and compare these with known characteristics of natural prehension (see Jeannerod [1988] for a review).
