ABSTRACT
This activity taps into the hidden emotional and spiritual conflict of a man who has experi enced a miscarriage. Males tend to downplay the emotional and spiritual effects of grieving over a miscarriage or infertility. The short story included as part of this exercise touches on some of the common characteristics of men who have experienced a miscarriage, and provides the space necessary for men to discuss the emotional and spiritual effects of a miscarriage, or long-term infertility. The questions that follow the short story offer the opportunity to discuss the compet ing feelings regarding a personal loss and the social constructs that men face during periods of loss. Also discussed is how examining the male’s grief in this way can deepen and strengthen the marital relationship.
