Rationale for Use For GLBT individuals, connecting with and developing a sense of belonging in the larger

GLBT community is a critical developmental task after they come out to themselves (Cass, 1979; Coleman, 1981-1982; Dank, 1971). The development of an inner sense of community and belonging leads to an increased sense of support, a reduction in isolation, and a reduction (or perhaps elimination) of self-hate, and facilitates the developmental stages of the coming-out process (Cass, 1979; Coleman, 1981-1982; Troiden, 1979).
