ABSTRACT
Totem and Taboo represents Freud’s attempt to rethink the Oedipus complex through the fields of anthropology, sociology, mythology, and individual psychology. In the previous chapters, it was implicitly argued that the Oedipus complex itself serves to structure the relation between the Real subject of sexuality, the narcissistic relation with the image of the (m)other, and the Symbolic intervention of the father.
