The structured life-review process: a community approach to the aging client
This chapter describes the use of a structured life-review process with three different sampJes of elderly people. This life-review process encourages dients to review their lives from birth to death. A therapeutic listener conducts the process using a life review and experiencing form (LREF). Three research projects using control and experimental groups tested the therapeutic efficacy of the life-review process. The LREF group showed life-satisfaction increases of approximately six points, whereas the control group, receiving only a friendly visit, had life-satisfaction score decreases of approximately one point.
