ABSTRACT

A group activity to sensitize teachers or others working with multicultures. The activity can be used as an in-service training activity. This exercise focus on this tension in a rather playful way, and to begin the processes of change and understanding. Adults and children need to examine how they perceive and relate to each other. Role-playing tends to magnify these processes and provides an opportunity to have fun while beginning to make changes. This exercise can be modified easily to allow supervisors and supervisees to role-play each other, and to begin the process of changing behaviors to promote better communication and greater productivity. If the family members can role-play each other and see the humor in their interactions, they are likely to make some changes and become closer. This activity could most likely be very therapeutic as the parents see themselves through the eyes of the children, and the children see themselves through the eyes of the parents.
