ABSTRACT

This exercise is intended to be used with couples, but under specific circumstances is valuable in individual situations. An exercise that can be used with couples to evaluate their level of sexual satisfaction and initiate communication about the sexual area of their relationship. There are 20 areas of sexual satisfaction which each member of the couple evaluates, and an opportunity to make specific comments can lead to sexual counseling and sexual enrichment. Although the Dyadic Sexual Satisfaction Inventory was developed for use with married couples, it can be used with any dyad-cohabitators, engaged couples, gay couples. By encouraging and getting dyads to make comments in the comment area, the counselor will have more information for structuring an intervention and developing a plan for sexual enrichment. Depending upon the educational level of the clients, the counselor may need to clarify some of the items.
