ABSTRACT

Dyad members create a dream for the relationship, then as a dyad they try to create a dream that combines the best of the two separate dreams. Often while dreaming, creative solutions can be uncovered which help with everyday problems. This exercise helps to promote dyadic communication and problem solving and helps to assist dyads to form more common goal orientations. Dreams tend to liberate individuals and groups to talk and think creatively about any idea or thing. Dreams allow us to face and resolve issues that may be off limits during our waking hours. By engaging the dyad or group in dream-making at a symbolic and metaphorical level, the trainer can assist the dyad or group in working out issues and problems that might be impossible in other ways. The exercise can be quite revealing when used with a work group or departmental group.
