ABSTRACT

This exercise generates a consciousness that people are not usually immobilized or stymied by things but more often by their thoughts about things. The exercise helps participants to identify goals and identify the attitudes that prevent them from attaining their goals. The exercise is to audio record the exercise and members analyzes their blocks and how they set themselves up for failure. By role-playing some of the behaviors, there is more likely to be a transfer to everyday life. The leader selects someone to be the recorder. The recorder writes down the participant's responses. Participants are helped to overcome self-doubts, myths, and obstacles. Participants receive a new lease on self-development and life by taking a solution-focused approach to problems. The exercise used with individuals, couples, families, or a group. Some groups benefit by looking at the connections between thinking, behaving, and feeling.
