ABSTRACT

This exercise has participants publicly state a value they hold dear and believe if practiced by all of humankind, it would create a better world. This exercise can be used with all ages, and is appropriate for mixed age groups from children to senior citizens. The stated values could be written on a flip chart so all could see the values of the group/family. Later a copy of the values could be distributed so ail would have a permanent list of them. The use of a flip chart can enhance the impact of this exercise. The trainer should be aware of the sensitivity whenever individuals share something this personal. Occasionally some individuals may exhibit some remorse or guilt for not living up to the values they identify and publicly state. It is usually best not to dwell on this remorse but to keep the group/family active with the current exercise.
