ABSTRACT

Some time after being a monthly intern at MRI, I heard Helm Stierlin speak on psychosomatic families in Munich at an MRI Conference. I became interested in cancer families—partly because I belong to one. My elder sister, still alive and well has had two major operations for primaries-colostomy and thyroidectomy. Reading the literature I could obtain, I found patterns replicated in my own family. Including recent bereavement before the diagnosis of cancer, in a centrifugal, independent, and extremely altruistic system.
