ABSTRACT

This chapter proposes a schematic that may elevate our view of the single parent family from that of a stereotype of victimization to one of responsible archetype. Stories in Greek mythology as well as the Hebrew and Christian scriptures provide varied characters, role models, and prototype options for living. In a Greek poetry, Zeus is actually the Thunder God of the Zagros Mountains who with each Aryan invasion sweeps westward across Asia and the Mediterranean Sea. The history of the invasions of animal herders with a Thunder God becomes incorporated into the poetic mythology. Chastity became an attribute of womanhood which male relatives by birth jealously insisted upon and assiduously guarded. Parthenogenesis is a word derived from the Greek words parthenos meaning unmarried woman and genesis meaning birth. The virgin archetype is the independent core, the original essence, the free spirit who animates the wind, the breath, and lets flow the beginning of a new world where anything is possible.
