ABSTRACT
At a Women and Aging class, Miriam described her Aunt Caroline, who at age 102 lived in a nursing home, was visited by numbers of descendants and was “aging gracefully.” One woman interrupted to ask Miriam what she meant by “aging gracefully.” Savoring the image of Aunt Caroline, the women began to define that common phrase.
