Attitudes towards the personal past, present, and future
Van Calster's (1979) item analysis (Gulliksen-method) showed internal consistencies of .93, .94, and .92 for the attitude towards the past, present, and future, respectively (129 university students). He found for the same group of subjects a .70 correlation between the T.A.S. for the future and Goldrich's (1967) scale for optimism. With another group of 39 first-year university students, he found correlations of .47, .63, and .25 between the T.A.S. and Cantril's (1965) Self Anchoring Scale for the past, present, and future, respectively.
