ABSTRACT
In the pages that follow I discuss the problem of where we should go in future research on sibling development. My point is that we have in the past been ethnocentric in both our choice of variables and in our choice of methodology. Specifically, we have focused on birth order in the family as a source of achievement and generally have investigated it by correlating ordinal position with a limited array of psychometrically assessed variables.
