ABSTRACT

Information integration theory is a unified, general theory of judgment and decision. It has had substantial success in diverse areas of psychology, including person perception, psycholinguistics, attribution theory, and group dynamics, as well as in attitude theory (Anderson, 1974a, 1974b, 1974c, 1978, in press). Attitude theory is viewed as part of a more encompassing theory of judgment and decision. This section outlines basic ideas in the integration-theoretical approach.
