We assume we exist: that we were born and will die. We assume we have our own existence, living alone encased in bags of skin. You assume you exist separate from me, separate from the chair in which you are sitting, separate from the book that you are reading. It looks like things are either outside you or inside you: Material objects, therapy clients, lovers are outside you; perceptions, thoughts, intentions, feelings, and consciousness are inside you.
