ABSTRACT

Before the Magazine Photo Collage (MPC) is administered for the assessment, the therapist proceeds with his/her standard approach to gathering the client's history. Data collected ahead of the MPC will give the clinician a better understanding of the possible personal meaning of some of the characters in the collage. In this chapter, the author provides a description of four-task assessment protocol. The rationale for the First Task is to begin the assessment by introducing an MPC that has the fewest instructions and is simple to master. The rationale for the Second Task instructions is multifold. It reveals clients' perception about trust, regarding either themselves, someone in their life, or possibly the therapist. The rationale for the Third Task is to see what the person considers as good and bad. The rationale for the Fourth Task is to evaluate the person's positive or negative outlook.
