ABSTRACT

The inclusion of a chapter on values and ethics in this edition of the Handbook of Family Therapy reflects the considerable upsurge of interest in the topic since the first edition of the Handbook was planned in the late 1970s. At that time, there was a mere trickle of literature on ethics and values in family therapy. By the end of the 1980s, the trickle had become, if not yet a torrent, at least a steady stream of discussion in the family-therapy literature.
